Over the next few weeks hybrid and electric vehicles will be on display at the 104th Chicago Auto Show in the United States, and solar power will take center stage at Expo Solar in South Korea, a business-to-business event covering all aspects of the solar industry.

Held in conjunction with Japan Renewable Energy Week, the second annual International Smart Grid Expo is a global exhibition and conference covering a wide variety of technologies and services related to the Smart Grid. The event runs concurrent with the International Smart Grid Expo Technical conference and several other minor renewable energy technologies. Last year's International Smart Grid Expo attracted over 90,000 visitors and over 1,500 exhibitors from 57 countries. The event is one of the few exhibitions and conferences dedicated solely to the Smart Grid, and is far larger than Distributech in the US which attracted 8,400 attendees in 2011 and next takes place January 24-26.

2nd San Francisco Green Film Festival

The second annual San Francisco Green Film Festival features screenings of over 70 movies that explore environmental and sustainability issues from film makers around the world. The film festival also includes workshops and networking events, and filmmakers from China, Sweden, UK, Canada, Brazil, Argentina and Germany are expected to attend.

EHX (Electronic House Expo) is an expo that caters for people interested in home health tech, smart energy, electronic security, digital media and custom electronics. It features booths from more than 200 exhibitors and offers hands-on sessions for those wanting to learn more about the electronics industry. In 2012 the ‘New Opportunities Pavilion' at EHX will be dedicated to numerous aspects of connected living including smart energy management, home health tech and remote diagnostics. Though the event is not used as a product launchpad in the same way the CES is, for example, it nonetheless serves as an insight into the future of smart grid / home appliances technologies.

A showcase of the latest developments, products and companies in the world of environmentally friendly building. In 2011 the exhibition attracted over 1,300 exhibitors and featured over 130 specialist sessions delivered by 750 experts on the sustainable building trade. Unlike Enertec earlier in the year or Intersolar in June, Ecobuild is focused more on sustainable construction products than energy sources which can be added to existing structures.

Every year since its inception countries around the world have been asked to devote the day to implementing UN recommendations regarding clean water supplies. Events relating to World Water Day are held around the globe and in the leadup to the event itself numerous campaigns take place highlighting the importance of conserving water.
