Grisly find in Lengkok Bahru

A cleaner got a rude shock when she discovered the body of a dead man in a rubbish chute at the bottom of Block 55 Lengkok Bahru early on Friday morning.

Local media said the deceased has been identified as 47-year-old Lim Fook Sin.

He was believed to be living on the 13th floor with his wife and their 13-month-old daughter. Two teenage children from his wife's previous relationship also stayed with them.

Lim's younger sister, who declined to be named, said that her odd-job labourer brother and his China-born wife, Lim Zi Yun, have been staying at the flat for close to two years, reported The Straits Times.

She told the paper that their marriage seemed happy.

Others, however, said the couple quarrelled occasionally and it was not uncommon for Lim to leave the house and return home a few days later, reported The New Paper.

It has also been reported that the tattooed Lim was a reformed Christian who had been jailed several times in his younger days for offenses such as assault and robbery.

Mystery surrounds how Lim’s body ended up at the bottom of the rubbish chute.

A friend of Lim's, Tng, speculated that he could have been trying to climb his way home through the rubbish chute in the early morning hours because he had left his keys and mobile phone in his house, reported The New Paper.

Police have ruled out foul play and have classified the case as an unnatural death.
