Anne Hathaway is said to have “thrown a fit” over Amanda Seyfried’s plans to wear a gown similar to her own Academy Awards dress.
Us Weekly reports that the Oscar-winning actress saw a photograph of her Les Miserables co-star’s gown during rehearsal for the show.
A source close to the situation told the magazine that Anne was upset at seeing Amanda’s Alexander McQueen garment during the practice session at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre.
"Anne was like 'WTF?!'" the source recalled. "She started throwing a fit.”
However, “[she] never told Amanda she had to change the dress,” the source added. "Amanda didn't want to deal with it and left.”
Anne, 30, had been planning on wearing a “pink embroidered tulle illusion gown,” by one of her favourite designers Valentino.
The fashion house had even released a statement announcing that Anne would be wearing their dress to the big show.
But having opted not to wear her first choice gown, the actress was thrown into a panic.
"Anne made the fashion, make up, hair, and jewellery teams wait at her home for hours as she decided what to do about the dress debacle," another source revealed.
The star also "asked for silence so she could rehearse her singing for the Les Mis tribute at the Oscars,” they added. “It was a painfully long experience."
Anne ended up wearing a pink distinctive Prada number which she described as “business in front party at the back.”
She released a statement acknowledging the near-dress disaster earlier this week.
In her comments she expressed “regret at any disappointment caused” to Valentino.
"It came to my attention late Saturday night that there would be a dress worn to the Oscars that is remarkably similar to the Valentino I had intended to wear, and so I decided it was best for all involved to change my plans,” she said.
"Though I love the dress I did wear, it was a difficult last-minute decision as I had so looked forward to wearing Valentino in honour of the deep and meaningful relationship.”© Cover Media
