Coming up, Times Square in New York City transforms into an oasis of tranquility for Mind Over Madness while the yogic masses head to Vermont for Wanderlust.

On June 20, thousands of yogis will be seeking tranquility and flexibility in one of the busiest places on earth, Times Square, as part of the annual Mind Over Madness event. The day-long free yoga event, sponsored by Athleta and held at Broadway between 42nd and 47th Streets, happens every year to mark the summer solstice. The event features musical performances, speakers, raffles, and free giveaways. The day's scheduled free yoga classes are 7:30am-8:45am, 12:30pm-2pm (Bikram), and 3:30pm-4:45pm, and 7:00pm - 8:30pm. Wanderlust

This annual festival is all about yoga, music, and nature. Days are for downward dogs with 40+ yoga instructors including the Village Anusara with YogaSlackers, a play lounge, hoop dance, hikes, and meditation. Headliners include Ziggy Marly, Deepra Chopra, Shiva Rea, Krishna Das, and Seane Corn. Nights are hedonistic dance parties featuring top musical acts and DJs. Surfers around the world will take to the waves to celebrate their sport on International Surf Day, now in its ninth edition. Last year nearly 200 events took place in more than 30 countries around the globe, and this year expects the same, as surfers and paddle-boarders mobilize for a celebration of free concerts, surf lessons and demos, parties, beach clean-ups, and contests.

Reebok CrossFit Games 2011
