Hotel rates on the rise in Europe this July, particularly in London

Travelers visiting European cities in July are paying more for their hotel room than they would have during the same period last year, according to the latest trivago-Relaxnews indicator. In London, host city for the upcoming Olympic Games, a standard double room for one night costs an average of €261, 26 percent more than the average cost in July 2011.

In comparison with room rates in June, however, a one night stay in a hotel room costs less in most of the major European cities. Hotel room rates in Paris are down by 13 percent;  in Venice down by 20 percent; and in Geneva they are 16 percent less. Venice and Geneva remain the most expensive destinations for the month along with London (€261) with average rates reaching €200 and €242 respectively.
