iLight Marina Bay to drive home sustainability message with Earth Hour 2012

To further emphasise the importance of sustainability, iLight Marina Bay 2012, the second instalment of Asia's first and only sustainable light art festival will be participating in this year's Earth Hour.

Between 8:30 PM and 9:30 PM on 31 March 2012, 31 featured artworks will be switched off. Other activities on that day will include a Mass Light Catcher Creation workshop at The Lawn from 6 PM, a commemorative light-up and a movie screening at the NESCAFE Passion Movie Night.

Aside from Earth Hour, the "Switch Off, Turn Up" campaign will contribute to practising and spreading the message of sustainability. Started by iLight Marina Bay 2012, the energy efficiency programme aims to get properties in and around Marina Bay to turn off non-essential lights and turn up air-conditioning temperatures and is expected to achieve minimum energy savings of 200,000 kWh (kilowatt hours), triple the energy saved during the first campaign in 2010.

The "Switch Off, Turn Up" campaign is supported by Sustainability Sponsor PowerSeraya and has received commitment from 47 properties so far to increase energy efficiency. Among the partners are Marina Bay Sands, iLight Marina Bay's Prime Sponsor, along with other developments around Marina Bay and beyond. Related Stories:
