Inside the mind of a Race Queen…

A Motor Show model opens up on lewd propositions, the perils of upskirt shots, and what car you should be driving to win her heart

SINGAPORE — Meet Rachel, a 23 year-old model who is currently gracing the Toyota booth at the Singapore Motor Show 2015, which ends today.

Like it or not, few motorshows feel complete without two-legged models alongside the four-legged ones. But you can’t talk to the latter, so we decided to speak with one of the former. Any excuse, as they say…

“It’s actually a very taxing and tough job,” says Rachel, about having to stand for hours and wear a permagrin. “We clock in long hours each day, easily surpassing 10 hours.”

But that creates an opportunity for the would-be Lothario. Rachel’s advice for any guy trying to engage the girls at the Motor Show is to relieve their strain. “It would be nice for someone to crack a joke perhaps and light up our faces, to brighten up an otherwise mundane day at work,” she says.

As you might expect, some men are rather more unsubtle than that. “The issues that we face are normally the same couple of things,” says Rachel. “Upskirt photos, over-demanding photographers and individuals who try to touch us at inappropriate areas of our body…”

And just because a lady happens to be standing next to a fancy new car, it doesn’t mean you have to drive one yourself to get into her good books.

A quick poll with Rachel and her colleagues revealed boyfriends who drive a Nissan Sunny, a Suzuki Swift, a Mazda RX8, a Volvo XC60 and even a Gilera scooter.

And as for those upskirt shots? Our advice is not to bother. Under the tight uniforms, show girls wear safety shorts.
