    Jack Lim's 'death threat'

22 Jan - It appears that "Ah Beng The Movie: Three Wishes" is now a do-or-die film for its lead actor, MY FM DJ Jack Lim, who is also its producer, according to Daily Chilli.

During a recent press conference, Silver, the director of the film, revealed that he actually received a death threat from the popular DJ.

"He told me that if the movie doesn't reach RM8.5mil at the box office, he would push me down from the top floor of KLCC, then figure out whether he should follow suit," quipped the director with a laugh.

Seeing as "Ah Beng The Movie: Three Wishes" is the first Chinese film to be screened in Malaysia's cinemas on Chinese New Year, Lim's anxieties are comprehensible. In addition, their competitors are "The Great Magician", which features Tony Leung as a magician, and "The Viral Factor", an action-thriller starring Jay Chou and Nicholas Tse.

According to the 37-year-old actor, the pressure of fulfilling their goal of coming out top in the box office charts is giving him sleepless nights for almost about half of a year now.

"Cast-wise, we surely can't beat the Hong Kong films. Our budget is not even 1% compared to those movies. All we could do was put in more effort. Silver and I have watched the movie for about 50 to 60 times when we're editing it. We tried to make sure that every scene conveys a message," explained Lim.

Since last month, the cast set out on a 100-location road tour to promote their film in hopes of boosting their box office grosses. In addition, Lim pledged to contribute the funds towards charity homes for every million ringgit that the movie makes in the box office.
