Jason Wu has teamed up with Lancôme to create a make-up line inspired by the "truly modern, sexy and confident woman".
The designer explained why he chose to partner with the global beauty brand on his debut limited-edition cosmetics range.
Jason says Lancôme's make-up values match his fashion ones, which is why this was the perfect pairing.
"What was so intriguing about partnering with Lancôme, beyond the unparalleled quality and luxury of their products, is the notion that the brand doesn’t impose a model of beauty but rather invites women to embrace themselves," Jason told WWD. "This is the embodiment of a truly modern, sexy and confident woman, much like the women I design for.”
The designer hinted that a cosmetics collection is something he had thought about for the future at the end of last year.
Jason revealed he'd begun to think about a character to inspire a potential make-up line while promoting his contemporary clothing range Miss Wu, which launched in department store Nordstrom last month.
The results of his collaboration with Lancôme will be seen when the collection is offered on counters from September this year.
“Beauty has always been extremely important to the Jason Wu label and I’ve made it an integral part of my fashion shows,” Jason explained.
