QPR midfielder Joey Barton has revealed his amazement at the current situation of the England national team following the resignation of Fabio Capello as manager.
Capello stood down from his post on Wednesday evening after a meeting with FA chairman David Bernstein and general secretary Alex Horne, with the decision to remove John Terry as captain seemingly the main cause for disagreement.
Terry was stripped of his captaincy in early February amidst his trial for allegedly racially abusing QPR’s Anton Ferdinand and after publicly slamming the decision, Capello resigned, a move that Barton thinks leaves England in an uncomfortable position.
Taking to his official Twitter account, Barton said: "Well, well, well, this debacle claims yet another victim. Where does this stop.
"No captain and no manager. 4 months from a major championship. What's going on......."
Barton himself has made one appearance for the England national team, coming on as a substitute for Frank Lampard in the 1-0 defeat to Spain at Old Trafford back in February 2007.
