15 Jun – With success achieved in their neighbouring country, Japan, girl group KARA were chosen as one of the stars awarded with the Korean Tourism awards.

According to a report on Daeyooda, the DSP Media girls attended the 2012 Stars of Korean Tourism awards ceremony to receive their honour. As one of the most successful Korean girl group in Japan, the girls were given the achievement award for their part in, "...leading the Hallyu Wave in the said country and lending their efforts to promoting Korean tourism all over the world".

This was also proven in a survey conducted by the KOFICE in January, when KARA was chosen as the most favourite K-Pop star by the Japanese.

The "Stars of Korean Tourism" first launched in 2010 held its third ceremony this year. Other stars that have been awarded include Bae Yong-joon and the production of "2 Days, 1 Night" in 2010, while in 2011, the awards were given to ice princess Kim Yu-na and actor So Ji-sub.
