624 doughnuts for first in Krispy Kreme Singapore store queue

[UPDATED on 8 October at 6:40pm - adding information on opening promotions]

A total of 624 doughnuts.

That's how many the first in line for the opening of Krispy Kreme's debut store in Singapore, at Tangs, will get. Thankfully for him or her, though, it'll be given in dozens -- one a week for a whole year.

The second and third in queue will receive 312 and 156 doughnuts respectively -- which translates to a six and three-months' supply each.

Fret not if you're fourth, though -- up to the 200th customer in queue will receive a free dozen doughnuts for every dozen they purchase, up to three boxes (that means six boxes in total).

All this generosity for...? The doughnut brand is promising these goodies in celebration of the opening of its first outlet, which we previously reported will open this Saturday, 12 October, at Tangs in Orchard.

The cafe will offer about 15 different doughnut creations including the Original Glazed.

Over the past few weeks, 100,000 free doughnuts were given away at public places as well as in offices, 45 days before the store launch -- this "donut drop" is part of Krispy Kreme's pre-opening tradition.

The doughnut chain has been popular around the world, including in Asia, where outlets can already be found in countries such as Indonesia and Malaysia.
