21 Jan – Rumour has it that multitalented star Lee Seung-gi will be starring in a new drama with "Secret Garden" actress, Ha Ji-won.
According to Soompi website, Lee Seung-gi will star opposite Ha Ji-won as the main protagonists of MBC's drama "The King". Technically, the contract hasn't been signed yet, but it's been said that they've already made a verbal agreement.
A staff member revealed, "Lee and Ha Ji-won will be starring together in "The King". The subject of casting has been brought up many times between the agency and the staff. Both actors have not signed the contracts yet, but aside from that, it's been confirmed that these two will be starring in the drama."
However, Lee Seung-gi's management agency has announced that while they are looking at the project favourably, nothing has been set in stone. A representative of Hook Entertainment stated, "We are still working on the deal. Once everything has been finalised, we will make an official announcement through Kim Jong-hak Productions."
"The King" is a romantic comedy that follows a North Korean spy and a South Korean prince who is heir to the throne. The drama will be directed by Lee Jae-kyu and was written by the sisters Hong Jin-ah and Hong Ja-ram who created popular hits like "Damo" and "Beethoven Virus".
This will be Ha Ji-won's first drama production in over a year after she concluded "Secret Garden". Lee Seung-gi also hasn't touched a drama series since last year's "My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox".
'The King' is to air in March after the conclusion of 'The Moon That Embraces the Sun'.
