M1 to launch nationwide 4G service from 15 Sept

M1 customers in Singapore can soon enjoy faster data access on their smartphones and tablets.

This after the telco announced on Thursday  it is launching its nationwide 4G service – the first in Southeast Asia from 15 September.

With the 4G service operating on M1’s advanced dual band network, mobile users will have their theoretical download speeds increased to 75Mbps.

Typical download speeds at fixed locations will range from 6.9Mbps to 17.4Mbps.

This means that both retail and business customers will get an enhanced experience, especially on rich multimedia applications such as high definition video streaming, online gaming and cloud applications.

“This launch marks another ‘first’ in M1’s milestones… We will continue to drive innovation in our network and services to ensure our customers consistently enjoy a better experience with us,” said Karen Kooi, chief executive officer of M1 Limited.

To complement its 4G service launch, the telco will introduce new smartphone and mobile broadband service plans to all new and re-contracting customers from 15 September.
