Machado set for Olympiakos switch

Portuguese international midfielder Paulo Machado is reportedly ready to sign with Greek Super League champions Olympiakos, Greek press reports said Saturday.

The reports said that Olympiakos has reached agreement with Machado's current club Toulouse to transfer the 26-year-old for a 2.7 million euros fee.

Machado is due to arrive in Greece on Sunday and on Monday is scheduled to undergo a medical examination by Olympiakos doctors and then sign a three-year contract worth an annual 1.4 million euros.

On Saturday, Olympiakos' leading scorer last season, Belgian striker Kevin Mirallas, said he believes Machado will improve the team.

"He has very good technique and I'm sure he will help the team in midfield. We need such a player and he fits the profile of the player we were searching for," Mirallas said.

Mirallas said that he was happy to be reunited with Machado, who played alongside him at Saint-Etienne during the 2008-2009 season.

Machado has four caps for Portugal.
