Three Malaysia Cup quarter-final first-leg fixtures have been revised, with only ATM’s match against Negeri Sembilan at the Selayang Stadium set to go ahead as per initial plan.
According to The Star, Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin, the competitions committee chairman of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), said that the change was to ensure national team players can report for centralised training from September 17-21, as well as to accommodate the Sultan of Selangor Cup clash between Selangor and Singapore on September 29.
Hamidin also confirmed that Kelantan’s second leg match against Iraq’s Arbil SC at the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium in Kota Bharu on September 25 was taken into account when the decision to reschedule the fixtures was made, and as such The Red Warriors’ game against Felda United FC will be pushed to September 29.
The other two matches between Pahang and LionsXII, and, Johor FC and Selangor will be played on September 25 instead.
Furthermore, the second leg matches are dependent on Kelantan’s fate in the AFC Cup. If they do progress to the next round, all four matches will take place on October 5. Otherwise, they will go on as scheduled on October 2.
