Malaysia ruling coalition has kept promises since Merdeka: PM

Bangi, west Malaysia (The Star/ANN)- Barisan Nasional's Twin-3K approach for the last 55 years is proof that the government keeps its promises to the nation and rakyat (people), said Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak.

Elaborating on the approach, Najib said the Twin-3K represents Keamanan dan Keselamatan (peace and security), Kestabilan dan Keharmonian (stability and harmony) and Kemakmuran dan Kemajuan (prosperity and development).

Najib, who is Barisan chairman, said the approach would be in line with this year's 55th Merdeka Day celebrations themed 'Promises Fulfilled'.

"The promises fulfilled is not merely a one or two day thing but one which Barisan had carried out over the last 55 years," he said in his speech during a Barisan Nasional roadshow in Bandar Baru Bangi.

"Our (Barisan) slogan of Promises Fulfilled is not mere words.

"There is no need for politicking but for us to help the rakyat," he said.

He said this was in stark contrast to Pakatan Rakyat, particularly in Selangor, where they have failed to make good their promises.

"They (Opposition) kept making numerous promises before the election in 2008 merely to win over the hearts and minds of the people but they have failed to fulfil their promises," he added.

Earlier, Najib met residents and had breakfast with them at the Bandar Baru Bangi Seksyen 1 Market.
