Man proposes via daily deal site

This wedding proposal is no ordinary deal.

A self-proclaimed “true romantic Shakespearean type”, 27-year-old Dexter Ng took to discount site Deal.com.sg to pop the big question on Wednesday evening, a day after Valentine’s Day.

Today's Deal: A DEAL Wedding: Shermane, Will You Marry Me?” it read, without forgetting to add “Exclusively from Dexter Ng (Includes Lifelong Warranty + Perks)”.

The lifelong warranty, as laid bare on the discount site, includes everything from household chores to “kisses and snuggles” and even “fathering children, and many more!”

Perks wise, the lucky lady gets to enjoy “love handles on tummy, available as a safety feature”, “someone to piggy back you up the stairs at night” and “stomping of any cockroaches within 5-metre radius”, among others.

“Voucher is valid forever”, the condition reads. Terms can also be “subjected to changes as and when the bride pleases”.

Now, what better deal can a bride-to-be get?

Even though viewers of the discount site have nothing to gain – they save 0 per cent – when they purchase the deal, over 23,500 individuals have showed their support for the brave Ng by clicking “BUY NOW”, as of Thursday afternoon.

And it was well worth it – the female lead has said yes!

The sweet couple’s love story, complete with videos of Ng’s love declaration and 24-year-old Shermane Ten’s bashful nod, are all documented on the discount site.

“We are both long-time DEAL.com.sg fans, and she regularly checks the latest deals... I thought it would be great to demonstrate my love to her publicly and propose via DEAL.com.sg," said Ng, who started dating Teh in September 2009.

The delighted pair was also gifted a 3-day/ 2-night travel deal to Phuket by the discount site and plans to marry sometime next year.

The online proposal, which took place “in front” of almost a million witnesses, is believed to be the first of its kind on an online marketing platform in Singapore.

Last November, Malaysian Loke Hin Seong pulled the same stunt by proposing to his girlfriend Hon Mei Chen via an advertisement on Groupon Malaysia – and he succeeded.

Husbands for sale, anyone?
