Manmohan Singh's tour to Japan postponed, will only visit Cambodia

New Delhi, Nov. 14 (ANI): Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh's scheduled visit to Japan has been postponed due to sudden political developments in that country.

According to Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the decision to postpone Dr. Singh's visit has been taken taking note of the general elections in Japan.

"There have been some domestic developments in Japan and I understand there is also a possibility of events leading to announcement of elections later during the week in Japan. Taking all these into account, it has been decided to postpone the annual summit meeting to a date which is mutually convenient to both the sides," said MEA official spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin.

"Our embassy in Tokyo as well as the Japanese embassy here are right now in touch with each other to fix a date mutually convenient," he added.

The Prime Minister will, however, visit Cambodia from November 18 to 20 to participate in 10th Association of South East Asian Nation (ASEAN) India summit and 7th East Asia Summit. (ANI)
