Man's body found in Kallang River

A man’s body was found in the Kallang River on Sunday evening (1 Oct).

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said that at about 5:30pm it responded to a case of a missing person near 1 Kallang Place.

Upon arrival, SCDF conducted search and rescue operations. “Two Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (DART) divers searched the area and found the body of a man submerged about three metres deep,” said an SCDF spokesperson.

According to the Singapore Police Force, the man who was 75 years old was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.

Police have classified the case as unnatural death and investigations are ongoing.
