Mariners, Nagoya draw 1-1 in ACL

Australia's Central Coast Mariners and Japan's Nagoya Grampus drew their AFC Champions League match 1-1 to remain unbeaten in Group G in Gosford on Wednesday.

Experienced Japanese international defender Markus Tulio Tanaka put Nagoya ahead in the 21st minute off a free kick.

Dutch defender Patrick Zwaanswijk equalised for the A-League leaders seven minutes later with a powerful header from a cross by youngster Tomas Rogic.

Nagoya's Australian World Cup striker Josh Kennedy was largely held in check and earned a yellow card in the seventh minute after an altercation with Zwaanswijk.

Both teams are level on points after two matches following Nagoya's opening 2-2 draw with Korea Republic’s Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma, while the Mariners kicked off their first ACL campaign with a scoreless draw against Tianjin Teda in China.
