Minister blasts critics over poor effort in 1MDB probe

Rebutting critics that he failed to do more as minister in charge of governance and integrity, Datuk Paul Low said he could not behave like a "loose cannon" as he had to protect due process in investigations into debt-ridden state investment firm 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB). “Integrity is not only about combating corruption but also about not accusing anyone. I protect the process of the investigation. "I could be a loose cannon and be the hero among the community but it was not right,” the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department said today at a session of the 16th International Anti-Corruption Conference (IACC) in Putrajaya this morning. He said that as a minister, he had to wait for investigations to be completed before disclosing details to the public. “Some said I'm not doing enough. When I was outside as an activist I was very vocal but when I'm in the Cabinet I speak constructively." Statements to the public, Low added, should be based on facts and the best way is to wait for the truth. – September 2, 2015.
