Minister gets ribbed after clean-up bill sent to wrong Bersih address

Umno minister Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan's gaffe in sending a RM65,000 bill to the wrong address for Bersih 2.0 as cleaning up costs following the rally last weekend has earned him snide remarks from the group's secretariat member. The urban well-being, housing and local government minister had taken to Twitter to tell his officers went to Bersih 2.0's registered address to deliver the bill but found an unkempt-looking house, causing him to take a jibe at the civil society group. "And this is the office of Bersih which doesn't look 'bersih' at all," he wrote, showing a photo of a run-down house. "We will try again next week to deliver the invoice of RM65k to Maria Chin Abdullah and Bersih. #payup!" he said in another tweet. It was followed by a several tweets from Bersih 2.0 member Mandeep Singh (pic, left), poking fun at the minister. "@mpkotabelud for your info, this is not @bersih2 office. Just wondering, siapa pilih hang jadi menteri (Who picked you to be minister). "Kalau Rahman Dahlan masih tak jumpa Pej @bersih2, minta dia whatsapp aku. I can sent location to him. #BringItOn (If Rahman Dahlan still can't find Bersih's office, please ask him to WhatsApp me). "Kalau Peg Datuk @mpkotabelud masih tak dapat cari Pej @bersih2 , pohon call Pej kami di 0377723275, sy boleh guide. Jgn salah uma lagi ye (If your officicals still can't find the Bersih 2.0 office, please ask them to call our office at 0377723275, I can guide. Don't go to the wrong house again). "Polis dan DBKL tak pernah salah alamat. Cuma @mpkotabelud je yang salah. Dah la salah, Pastu dgn bangga upload gambar. #bersih4." (Police and Kuala Lumpur City Hall has never made a mistake with the address. Only @mpkotabelud who is wrong. Bad enough he is wrong, he proudly uploaded the picture.)" Rahman and Bersih 2.0 chairman Maria Chin Abdullah have been disagreeing over the cost of cleaning up by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) after the 34-hour gathering last weekend that drew tens of thousands of people. Bersih 2.0 estimated the number to be 500,000. Rahman said Bersih 2.0 should pay for clean-up costs as they had received RM2.4 million in public donations, which he said should be used for public purposes. Maria, however, said they would not pay a single sen and will challenge any payment request in court. The 34-hour rally was held to demand institutional reforms and to pressure prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to resign. Groups of volunteers among protestors were seen picking up rubbish and bagging them for collection, in addition to providing food and drinks to rally-goers. – September 5, 2015.
