Three New York bands take the top three spots in The Hype Machine's most blogged artists chart on April 7. Brooklyn synth pop duo Holy Ghost! holds the number one position, while Brooklyn trio The Antlers climbs into second place. Also experimental band Gang Gang Dance, hailing from Manhattan, enters the top ten.
A new face in the blogs, Gang Gang Dance just released a new mp3 and video for a song dubbed "Mindkilla," the second track from the upcoming LP Eye Contact, out in May. The track "is a mind expanding journey through the exciting mind of Gang Gang Dance," writes blogger We All Want Someone to Shout For (www.weallwantsomeone.org). "It’s a song that explodes through your speakers with haunted electronic beats."
New Canadian R&B act The Weeknd has been a hot topic in the blogs in recent days with the release of a debut EP dubbed House of Balloons that is "jam-packed with soul, free-flowing, and eclectic-sounding," writes blogger Live for the Funk (www.liveforthefunk.com). News swirled last week that the "mysterious" trio had signed to Drake’s label, as reported in UK's The Guardian, but bloggers are announcing that the news is false.
