US hip hop legends Beastie Boys hold the top spot in the The Hype Machine's most blogged artists chart on April 13. British rockers Arctic Monkeys take second place, while US rock band My Morning Jacket debuts in the top ten at number three.
My Morning Jacket just released the title track, a "slow building acoustic/electric jam" (sloaneranger.com), from their upcoming LP, Circuital. "As someone who was not on board with the direction of the band's last record, Evil Urges, this bit sounds like a welcome return to form," reviews blogger Aquarium Drunkard (aquariumdrunkard.com).
Another hot topic in the blogosphere is Brooklyn-based quintet TV on the Radio, who just released their fifth album, Nine Types of Light, on April 11/April 12 in the UK/US. The new album is "complex, disparate and layered, but more than anything well-lacquered and slick," reviews blogger Citizen Dick (citizendick.org). "Nine Type of Light is a good album, but it is TV on the Radio's weakest work," writes Obscure Sound (obscuresound.com).
