Petaling Jaya (The Star/ANN) - Malaysian Prime Minister's son Nor Ashman, 20, who speaks Mandarin, took part in his father's radio interview on One FM Morning Kaki programme.
"Zhao shen, da jia hao. Wo de ming zhi jiao Ashman. (Good morning everyone, my name is Ashman)," he said.
Najib tried his hand at Cantonese: "Zhou san, tai ka hou. Ngo hai Najib (Good morning, how is everyone? I am Najib)."
When asked about Najib's parenting style, Ashman said his father was "not that strict" but had high expectations of him, including finding the perfect wife.
Najib agreed and quipped humorously: "I can choose one for him," which led radio deejay Jane Ng to ask Ashman what he thought of that.
"I would definitely agree," he replied in Mandarin, drawing laughter.
On their father-son relationship, Najib said they liked to banter and tease one another as well as watch interesting television shows.
"Ashman likes to watch football with me. He's an avid Manchester United fan.
"He also likes to watch air crash investigations and analyse them. But it doesn't stop him from travelling so that's the good thing about it," said Najib with a laugh.
Ashman, who spent three weeks learning Mandarin at the Beijing Foreign Studies University in China last year, said he enjoys listening to music, reading and singing.
Najib said his son is also a great deejay who loves to spin music.
"He spends a lot of time in his room blending music together. He is very good at it," he said.
