Natalie Portman got so flustered by her crying baby son she paid for her fellow diners' food in a restaurant, it has been reported.
The actress is said to have popped into Los Angeles deli Flore Vegan for lunch with her one-year-old child Aleph, but was left red-faced when the little boy began to cry immediately after she sat down.
According to sources, the Oscar-winning star tried everything in her power to console the tot but nothing worked.
Eventually an embarrassed Natalie asked staff to pack up her lunch as a takeaway and paid for three of the other tables’ food to make up for the commotion.
“Her fellow diners were grateful, but protested – saying kids cry sometimes and Aleph wasn’t that bothersome. But Natalie, apologising profusely, insisted on paying their tab of nearly $150, then left them to veg in peace,” a source told The National Enquirer.
Natalie and husband Benjamin Millepied welcomed their first child Aleph into the world in June 2011.
The couple met when the ballet star trained Natalie for her Academy Award-winning role in Black Swan and announced their engagement in December 2010.
