NBA GLOBAL GAMES: A DAY BEFORE HISTORY

A day before the NBA Global Games takes over the metro, there were a couple activities today heading into gameday. An NBA Cares event took place this am with Jalen Rose and Ron Harper and several Pacers holding a clinic and fun games for some special children.

Dwight: “It’s a new beginning. I’m excited, my mind is in the right place.”

Kevin McHale:

Asked about Dwight being the next Hakeem Olajuwon or Yao Ming: “Dwight will be the next Dwight Howard and no one else.” No one on this team really has a problem here and we will see how it is down the road when adversity comes our way. Every team encounters adversity.

Tomorrow’s game is gonna be electric. Unlike any other normal pre-season game like let’s say we were playing against the Spurs somewhere. (laughs)

It’s been really different from 1980. We were like how does this help us traveling while the Pistons are in their own place getting ready? The logisitics and everything is hard but I’m excited and all up for it. Me and the boys are ready to go.”

James Harden:

“Chemistry has been easy to come by here. Just by simply going to the mall with the guys. (Or Chandler Parsons having dinner with Kc Concepcion)”

Chandler Parsons:

“My role here is kinda like a point forward role. I’ve watched some greats like T-Mac, Scottie Pippen and Grant Hill and have learned a lot from them.”

Carlo Singson:

“The biggest thing for the NBA is finally seeing things coming into fruition. It’s amazing. From the pocket activities, scheduling, seating arrangements, NBA Cares. We’ve always been active here with our grassroots programs and the like so to see everything come into life is great.”

Frank Vogel:

“Something about me that not everyone knows? You’ve seen the toothbrush video? I can spin the ball on the edge of my toothbrush while brushing my teeth.” (laughs)

Danny Granger:

“I feel good. I wouldn’t say I’m a hundred percent yet but I’m almost there. Excited for the season and getting into game shape. We’ll definitely put on a show tomorrow night. As far as next season, just as a team we are working harder, striving to get better. You learn a lot from sitting on the bench for a long time. I’ve done the rehab and ready to contribute to get us past that East Finals hurdle and get the championship.”
