Newcastle United's Tim Krul reveals he has no intention of leaving

Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul revealed he has no intention of leaving Sports Direct Arena this transfer window.

The Tyneside club had given the 23-year-old a £15 million price tag earlier in the transfer window with Chelsea and Tottenham both reportedly keen on the Netherlands international.

Krul has kept eight clean sheets in 25 games for the sixth-placed Premier League club this season and he admitted he is living the dream with the Magpies.

“I'm playing for the club I've always wanted to play for,” Krul told BBC Newcastle on Friday.

“I've been working hard for five or six years now to be where I am at now.”

Krul fought off tough competition for the first-team goalkeeper in pre-season from Steve Harper and Fraser Forster, with his selection reaping rich rewards for Newcastle manager Alan Pardew.

The former Den Haag shot-stopper revealed: “I know where I am at; I'm loving life at the moment.

“Sixth in the league, we couldn't wish for much more than that.”

Magpies defensive midfielder Cheick Tiote and free-scoring Senegal striker Demba Ba have also been linked with moves away to Champions League contenders, but Krul admits that's just a part of football.

But Krul added: “It's one of those periods, people get linked everywhere.

“For players they have to switch off, if things happen, they have to happen.

“I don't read the papers or the internet, it will play with your head.”
