Nicola Formichetti ‘loves’ Azealia Banks’ NYC style

Nicola Formichetti loves Azealia Banks’ “harlem chic” style.

The iconic stylist recently created the wardrobe for the rap star’s new promo Liquorice and the pair had a blast playing dress up in the studio.

The fashion designer was hugely impressed by the 212 singer’s down to earth attitude and predicted big things for her.

"I love her style. She’s a total NYC girl, with that harlem chic thing going on. She looks sexy and cool. You really get that feeling that she’s about to go huge," he told GraziaDaily.co.uk. “She came into the studio alone – no entourage. What a cool girl. It was instant love! Basically we had fun dressing up and down all day.”

Nicola compared Azealia’s style to that of his most famous protégée, Lady Gaga.

The sartorial star explained that while their outfits are completely different, both musicians have a similar attitude to fashion.

“Azealia's style is much more street and prettier. But their work ethics are similar – they’re both dedicated to their art. What I love about Azealia is that she really knows her references so it’s easy for us to collaborate and push boundaries. So in a way that’s very similar to how I work with Gaga,” he said.
