Nike+ Fuelband unrolls new limited-edition color

Following the launch earlier this year of the Nike+ FuelBand, a new transparent color dubbed "Ice" -- which debuted on the wrist of Nike spokesperson Serena Williams at Wimbledon -- will become available later this month in select locations in the US and UK.

On July 27, NikeTown locations in London, San Francisco, and New York will carry the limited-edition Nike+ FuelBand Ice. The product will also be available from London's Boxpark, the House of Innovation at Selfridges, and New York's 21 Mercer Street. From August 12, you can also purchase via www.nikestore.com.

The FuelBand teams up with a free iPhone app or the Nike+ website to collect and compile information about your daily activity levels. Fitness junkies, or those who want to turn expending energy into a sport of its own, can use the band's built-in three-axis accelerometer to measure time, calories, steps, and a metric Nike calls "NikeFuel." LEDs provide the wearer with instant feedback about their progress throughout the day.

The FuelBand is priced at $149.

Other fitness tracking devices on the market include Adidas MiCoach Pacer, DirectLife Activity Monitor, Affectiva Q Sensor, Basis, Digifit, and Fitbit.
