No new National Day song this year

The enthusiasm was palpable in the crowd on Saturday night, as most donned national colours of red and white to show their love for Singapore.

There will be no new song for National Day this year, breaking a practice that goes back at least 16 years.

In media reports, organisers of the National Day Parade (NDP) said that songs like Stand Up For Singapore and the hugely popular Home will be sung instead.

They complement this year’s parade theme “Our People, Our Home”, executive committee chairman Colonel Wong Yu Han reportedly said.
