NSman has heart attack during training at Maju Camp

A Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) operationally-ready national serviceman suffered a cardiac arrest on Thursday at 7:25pm while training at Maju Camp.

In a statement, the SAF said Lance Corporal Chew Koh Leong, 32, was successfully resuscitated by an SAF medical doctor and medic and sent to the National University Hospital (NUH) at 7:55pm.

The NSman was performing preparatory training for his individual physical proficiency test (IPPT) at the time of the incident.

Chew, who had no known prior history of heart disease, is being treated in the intensive care unit and the cause of his cardiac arrest investigated by NUH specialists, SAF added.

SAF said it is providing assistance to Chew's family.
