Philippines' Jollibee buys half of SuperFoods

MANILA, Philippines (AP) — Philippines fast-food giant Jollibee Food Corps. says it has bought a 50 percent stake in Asian food company SuperFoods Group.

Superfoods owns and operates Highlands Coffee Shops in Vietnam; Highlands Coffee Packaged Products; Hard Rock Cafe franchises in Macau, Hong Kong, and Vietnam; and the Pho 24 brand and restaurants in Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines, Hong Kong, Cambodia, and Japan.

Jollibee said Tuesday the $25 million investment is part of its joint-venture with Vietnam-based Viet Thai International Stock Company. The deal also involves a $35 million loan to Viet Thai, with Jollibee already advancing $5 million to SuperFoods.

The purchase gives Jollibee a 49 percent stake in SF Vung Tau Joint Stock Company, and a 60 percent stake in Blue Sky Holdings Limited which are vehicles for SuperFoods brands.

Awesome....the downside is business climate in the Phil is so bad that the big guns of Phil business is already diversifying and investing OUTSIDE of the Phil...so who gets to generate jobs and where? Wake up PHL gov.

well, how about thinking that Jollibee is also generating jobs in other Asian and Middle East markets, is it also bad? Jobs are jobs! I am sure the company will add accountants, auditors and other office staff as it grows, and for ____ sake, the Philippines has been doing the jobs of IBM, Maersk and other big companies already so sharing jobs with other countries is not too bad.

Read the article again, SuperFoods has stakes in the Philippines aside from the other Asian countries... Knowing Jollibee, these shops will mushroom anywhere and everywhere in the country.
And besides, the whole world is in recession. What it needs is another shot in the arm, in this case an global expansion ain't that bad...

FAQ! Thousands have graduated working for Jollibee. JB only accepts young individuals to work as a service crew especially students but they are not a fan of regularization. They will just rotate service crew to other store when end of contract comes and so on and so forth... Anywaist! thanks JB! P.S Jollibee mascot is Gay! GO Yum Burger

Not picky at all but Jollibee is pretty awful even by fast food standards. But it's considered good food by Filipinos. Acquired taste?

But who owns Jollibee? Who is the majority stockholder, the individual, not the holding company? As chickenjoy consumer, we have the right to know.
