27-year-old Darren is currently an ambassador for international sporting brand, PUMA, and was nominated by the National Arts Council to run with the Olympic flame as a torchbearer in the inaugural 2010 YOG. 27-year-old Darren is currently an ambassador for international sporting brand, PUMA, and was nominated by the National Arts Council to run with the Olympic flame as a torchbearer in the inaugural 2010 YOG. Darren is also the youngest youth ambassador to have represented Singapore at the 2004 APEC Conference in Santiago De Chile.
The radio DJ-turned-entrepreneur is also the owner of Chillax Massage Café – a new concept café located in the heart of Serangoon Gardens that believes in offering its customers good food and a great array of massage choices.
Darren is also the band leader and drummer of local alternative rock outfit, MONOCHROME. And aside from rocking out on stage, MONOCHROME also believes in giving back to society.
The band’s very own charity initiative – HEART ROCK – sees them volunteer and perform at various charity organisations and NPOs.
MONOCHROME also put together a charity fundraiser concert after the Japan tsunami and earthquake in 12 days and managed to raise SGD$30,000 for MERCY RELIEF to help in the Japan Relief efforts. Recently, the band partnered Hard Rock Café and John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’ Foundation to raise funds for "Why Hunger" in an effort to eradicate world famine.
For his active involvement in charity and social work, Darren was also shortlisted as one of the Top 10 Nominees for the 2011 Stars Of Shine Award that recognizes youth excellence and outstanding contributions to the community.
