Embattled WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange made a rare appearance on Dec. 20, 2012, to announce that he will remain at the Ecuadorian embassy in London, where he holed up six months ago to avoid extradition to Sweden for alleged sex crimes, as long as the U.S. continues its investigation of him.
