Piolo vows to stay loveless till he's 40

Manila (Philippine Daily Inquirer/ANN) - Piolo Pascual said he promised his 15-year-old son I?igo he would not enter into another romantic relationship until he had turned 18.

Piolo, now 37, made the vow following malicious intrigues that hounded him after breaking up with his girlfriend KC Concepcion last year.

"Traumatized," the actor has since been wary of giving interviews. "I also feel bad for my mother, siblings and my son. They don't deserve that," Piolo said about the effect of the rumors.

"But I can't do anything about it," he admitted. "Dealing with intrigues is part of my job. I have to live with it."

Piolo made these revelations to a group of show biz writers at the recent press con for the SunPIOLOGY Run and Star Magic Gives Back Concert.

Despite all the flak thrown at him, Piolo assured the public that he was doing okay. What really gets to him, he said, was his family being dragged into his personal issues.

So when does he intend to find love again?

"Not now," the Kapamilya star quipped. "Hopefully, before I turn 40. I'll be 38 soon-not that far off!"

When that time comes, Piolo said he'd rather be with someone who is not in show biz.

Open book

On KC's blossoming relationship with rumored suitor Emmanuel Pierre Plassart, Piolo said he was happy for his former flame.

"I've always wished her well," he said. "We [both] wish for peace and happiness. As long as she's happy, I'm happy."

The matinee idol denied that he had deliberately shied away from media, saying he was really just a naturally reserved person.

"I've been in this business for so long, and this is just how I really am. I'm not a secretive person... I'm not hiding anything," Piolo stressed.

"So many different things have been taken out of context. I've been so traumatized, that sometimes I'm very aware of having to choose the right words to say-so people don't judge me again," Piolo said. "I get hurt, too. So sometimes I back off only to protect my feelings."

That was why he avoided reading stories about himself in newspapers, he said.

Spearheaded by Sun Life ambassador

Piolo, the SunPIOLOGY Run, now on its fourth year, is a fundraising event that aims to help ABS-CBN's Lingkod Kapamilya, and Reception and Study Center for Children.

The run kicks off Nov. 24 at the Venice Piazza Mall in McKinley Hills, Taguig.
