PARIS, June 24 - European stocks extended their losses on Tuesday, down 1.4 percent after data showed U.S. consumer confidence fell in June to its lowest in 16 years, fuelling worries over consumer spending.
At 1406 GMT, the FTSEurofirst 300 <.FTEU3> index of top European shares was down 1.4 percent at 1,206.56 points.
The Conference Board said its overall monthly measure of consumers' mood declined to 50.4 this month -- the lowest since 47.3 in February 1992 -- from a revised 58.1 in May. Economists on Wall Street had been expecting a reading of 56.4, according to a Reuters poll.
