Turkey - Factors to Watch on Nov 25

ISTANBUL, Nov 25 - Here are press reports, news and events that could affect Turkish financial markets on Wednesday.

The lira <IYIX=> was trading at 1.492 against the dollar in early trade, compared with Tuesday's close of 1.450. The yield on the Aug 3, 2011, benchmark bond <0#TRTSYSUM=IS> rose to 8.85 percent from a previous 8.83 percent. The main share index <.XU100> closed down 0.63 percent to 45,513.50.

GLOBAL MARKETS

Asian stocks climbed on Wednesday after the Federal Reserve raised U.S. growth forecasts for 2010 but Japanese shares fell to a four-month low on worries about capital raisings and government economic policy.

The dollar fell to a seven-week low 88.20 yen <JPY=> in morning Tokyo trade as Japanese exporters sold the U.S. currency and the greenback also fell against other currencies. [ID:nHKG282968]

A source close to the talks between Turkey's largest media group and the government on a settlement of Dogan's 4.8 billion lira tax fine said there had been no settlement.

MANUFACTURING CONFIDENCE

Turkey's manufacturing confidence index falls 2.8 points to 91.2 points in November, its lowest reading since April, the central bank says. [ID:nIST006228]

Turkey's largest steelmaker says it has applied to a state court to cancel the outcome of a competition board investigation.

In June Erdemir was fined 20.12 million lira for violating competition rules and was ordered to end its partnership with ArcelorMittal <ISPA.AS>.

DENIZBANK <DENIZ.IS>

The European Commission wants Belgian-French financial services group Dexia <DEXI.BR> to shed or divest foreign businesses in exchange for receiving state aid. These could include Turkey's Denizbank Belgian newspaper De Standaard reported.
