TAIPEI, Oct 23 - Taiwan's President Ma Ying-jeou plans to hold a monthly meeting on the economy as the government's platform for shaping major financial and economic policy, the Economic Daily reported on Friday.
The next meeting will focus on issues including rising jobless rates and insufficient private investments, the paper said in a front-page story.
Ma met the premier, the central bank governor, chairman of the Financial Supervisory Commission, and finance and economic ministers to discuss the issues in a preparatory meeting on Thursday, the Chinese-language paper said.
Taiwan's September seasonally adjusted jobless rate rose to a record 6.09 percent from 6.07 percent in August, the government said on Thursday, as the export-led economy suffers from a steep global downturn. [nTPU001775]
