    Sex addiction laid bare

Sex addiction has more exposure today than ever, with household celebrities such as Russell Brand speaking openly about the condition; but what causes sex addiction and what does the problem entail? Dr Abigael San, a clinical psychologist at The Priory Hospital, says, “Sex addiction, like other addiction problems, is a way of escaping when things get difficult. It’s a coping strategy and it can be very preoccupying. Sex addicts might find themselves spending lots of time sourcing pornography, looking at it and trying to get hold of it.”

Most people think that a sex addiction must stem from a sex-related issue, but usually it comes from the nature of addiction itself and is more about the feeling of helplessness. Dr. San explains, “Sex addiction runs a lot deeper than just sex. Of course, factors like a high sex drive are going to be relevant but they’re rarely the cause of sex addiction.” Although it’s an easy stereotype to place, sex addiction is usually more common in men than women, but that could be for a number of reasons, ranging from the fact we might expect men to carry the addiction, to the possibility that it’s more acceptable for a man to have it. With the Internet being readily available, sex addiction has more accessibility, so anyone who might have a tendency to be a sex addict would be able to go down that path.

Dr. San believes that with the right course of action, people can beat sex addiction, “Sex addiction should be treated in the same way as any other addiction problem, which means looking at the reasons behind the addiction and building up other areas of the addict’s life, such as going to therapy meetings, where they’ll meet new people and have less opportunity for encouraging their addiction.” The best way to deal with sex addiction, or even worries about sex addiction, is to have an assessment by a psychiatrist or clinical psychologist, and then take relevant addiction treatment from there. Sex addiction could probably be felt to people who have no wife because they might feel very aggressive for this kind of activity especially, they are influenced of free pornographic pictures/videos. This problem can be cured only when they get married....but in case the problem will not solve for the said solution then they called as sex maniac.

Sex addiction is associated with hormonal imbalance and could not be mislead to other drug related addiction. Body fluid cease as you age as with your sex addiction, for now you have nothing to do with it but to enjoy your lustiness (only to your partner). Just open it up and channel it to a passionate successful relationship.

I have a real difficult time believing in this sex addiction diagnosis. Maybe it is due to the commonality of it being announced shortly after being discovered that one spouse cheated on the other. I have a very high sex drive but it is only for my wife and no other, and i do not think myself a sex addict. Even though i do desire my wife, as she puts it, an abnormal amount of the time.

Now if they are talking about nymphomania that is completely different. These people derive pleasure from sex, and seek it out because of that pleasure. So does every teenage boy that has masturbated or 20 yr old guy that got laid.

Actually, a different study from last year revealed that constant exposure to pornography caused men to be more desensitized to real sex.

Sex addiction can only happen after one has tried it and he likes it. A virgin can only yearn for sex and he cant be addicted without trying it. So if u r too young especially school girls who r virgin, dont try it until the suitable time later and u wont be addicted.

avoid eggs and groundnuts because it will cause ejaculation more frequently, work out regularly because u`ll feel stronger last but not least once u cross age of 30 your testosterone levels start decreasing 2% every yr so by the time u turn 40 u`d have lost about 20% testosterone levels so keep using natural Tlevels enhancing supplements for a healthy life say no to addictions and say yes to healthy life!

Love is in your heart and lust is in your head. Better make judicious use of your heart and live ever happily. Engage yourself in more useful and fruitful activities that does good to yourself and the society. Meditation is the best thing to follow regularly. Dont waste your monies on the so called modern day doctors, who thrive on others' weaknesses.

It needs to define what an addiction means; is there a norm which defines the boundary of addiction. Some symptoms of addiction need to be explained to help educate. This will create some awareness. Self realization is first but vital important step to cure. The right time to deal with the issue is childhood. How do we educate our society to accept the need of 'education' at the right time. It has to have a top down approach. Today, fortunately, it has started appearing as a column in some news paper, it has limited coverage.
