Singapore Airlines unveils premium economy class service

New service: The premium economy class service aims travelers who were looking for a more flexible and comfortable option than economy class, but at a slightly lower price than business class.

Singapore Airlines is to offer a premium economy class service as of August, with its main target of attracting premium leisure travelers and small and medium enterprise (SME) business travelers.

Singapore Airlines executive vice president of commercials Mak Swee Wah said the service, which had been developed over the past two years, was aimed at catering to travelers who were looking for a more flexible and comfortable option than economy class, but at a slightly lower price than business class.

“The new premium economy class will provide passengers with more comfort and in-flight amenities than the usual economy class service. It is an answer to the changing product trends and consumer climate we have seen over the years in the industry,” Mak told The Jakarta Post on the sidelines of the launch of the premium economy class service here on May 21.

He added that its premium economy class service would focus more on long-haul routes.
