Singapore stalker pleads guilty to harassing US singer for 6 years

A 38-year-old man pleaded guilty on Thursday for harassing a US singer for six years, according to The Straits Times

Colin Mak Yew Loong was convicted for criminal intimidation, harassment, criminal trespass and theft, after admitting to sending 31 threatening emails to 29-year-old American singer Leandra Ramm and her boyfriend, the report revealed.

It added that Mak had first seen Ramm when she was featured in an interview with US celebrity news reporter Anderson Cooper in 2005 on his “360” news programme.

Mak had contacted Ramm, promising to further her music career. Ramm was initially "grateful" but began receiving threatening emails and phone calls when she stopped responding to Mak, the report said, adding that the both of them had never met.

According to court documents, Mak was also charged for harassing two others. One is a 28-year-old Ukrainian music instructor Veronika Sakhno and the other German photographer Siegfried Geyer, the boyfriend of a Hungarian music teacher, Krasznai Tuende Ilona, 30, whom Mak had developed a "fixation" for.

Who is Leandra Ramm?

Leandra Ramm is a singer and actor who performs mostly for theatre and opera companies.

In 2012, Ramm published a book titled “Stalking A Diva”, documenting her nightmare of being harassed by the Singaporean stalker.

According to a report by Huffington Post, “Ramm got offered a spot at the Singapore Music Festival and jumped at the opportunity. But it wasn’t real [the offer and the festival]. The offer came from a man named Colin [Mak], a wanted criminal in Singapore.”

One of the things Colin said to her was “I’m going to show up at this place at this time, and I’m going to cut your face with box cutters… or I’m going to have a gun pointed at your head,” according to the report which quoted Ramm. It added that Mak had even professed his love.
