Ditch the Jeffery’s as the trainer takes the fash-reins for A/W. No longer just a godsend for sore-footed commuters, teenagers, or those people that won gold medals this summer, trainers have fought their way into luxury fashion territory. And now this week they even have their own exhibition Sneaking Into Fashion (18th-28th October) where forty pairs are on display tracking the trainer's journey through popular culture.
Offering trainer-aficionados an exclusive look at some of the coolest and most recognisable sneakers since they first squeaked their way into popular culture. Charting their rise to fame, and their many guises throughout the ages, expect to get up close and personal with footwear from Noel and Liam Gallagher, Mel B’s infamous Buffalos, Isabel Marant’s wedge creations for Beyoncé and the gold medal-winning spikes Mo Farah wore on that ‘Super Saturday’. While designs by Jeffrey Campbell, Pierre Hardy, Vivienne Westwood and Gucci remind us of the role fashion has played in the sport shoe’s world-wide glory.
The show is put together by amazing fashion curator Tory Turk – who featured in Company last August. To read Tory’s interview download the back issue of Company at https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/company-magazine-uk/id460069851?mt=8
