Sophie Theallet & Lane Bryant collaborate on lingerie

The French designer has created a capsule collection of lingerie for the American plus-size retailer.

The new lingerie line created with Sophie Theallet is set to hit stores in the fall under the 'Cacique' label of the US store (which specializes in sizes 14 to 28).

"We wanted something a little risqué," Linda Heasley, chief executive officer of Lane Bryant, told WWD. "When I saw Sophie's fashion show, I saw so much that could be translated to Cacique. The French aesthetic is so important to the lingerie category."

Theallet previously worked under French fashion legends Jean Paul Gaultier and Azzedine Alaïa before heading out on her own. Featuring florals, satins and fun touches like garter skirts, the collection will start at $19.95 for panties, going up to $108 for the corsets. Sleepwear is set to range from $39.95 to $109.

Lane Bryant has also worked with designers Isabel and Ruben Toledo on a line of t-shirts, which became a full collection for Spring-Summer 2014. The plus size market is currently expanding rapidly, with a number of new lines including Violeta by Mango launching in recent months.
