Fashionistas jetting off on holiday are often faced with the restraints of airline baggage limits, but a new function from fashion e-commerce site style-passport.com means holidaymakers can weigh everything they purchase -- suitcase included.
It has been reported that 27% of UK travelers will exceed baggage limits when setting off by plane, and with airlines able to charge as much as £20 (25 euros) per kilo for extra weight, costs can enter into hundreds of pounds for a family of four.
But now style-passport.com, which ships globally and sells designer garb from the likes of J Brand, Opening Ceremony and Missoni, has launched its handy weight function.
Items featured on the site indicate their individual weight, revealing a pair of wedges can weigh up to 1kg for example, and then when shoppers come to the checkout their 'suitcase' reveals its weight.
The website also flags up weight restrictions from some of the world's most popular airlines.
"Far too often we are caught out at the airport with extra fees because of excess charges, it's quite shocking, style-passport wants to make sure this is a thing of the past," said style-passport founder Sarah Walter.
"We want to make it easier and cheaper for people to be able to go away and enjoy a well earned rest. It seems that these are avoidable charges and we are trying to make sure they remain avoidable by doing the homework for our customers."
This new initiative follows a report earlier this month by clothing line F&F at British high street store Tesco that revealed the average woman wears 28 different outfits during a weeklong holiday.
