Taipei (The China Post/ANN) - Taiwan Lottery yesterday announced its "NT$26 Million Red Envelope (about US$853,000)," which has the largest-ever grand prize offered in a scratch card lottery series.
The NT$26 million prize is the largest instant-lottery jackpot in Taiwan history, said General Manager Joy Huang.
The "NT$26 Million Red Envelope" is a limited-edition series designed for the upcoming Chinese New Year, said Huang.
The public can test out their Dragon Year luck on a scratch card, or slip one into a relative's red envelope as a grace note.
The "NT$26 Million Red Envelope" also offers 25 prizes of NT$1 million. The likelihood of a card carrying a prize is 80 percent, according to Huang.
Alongside "NT$26 Million Red Envelope," Taiwan Lottery is set to launch two new games series: the tangerine-themed "Great Luck Great Winnings" and "Blossoming Riches".
Scratchable peony flowers on the "Blossoming Riches" game card give at least 10 chances to win. Besides its NT$2 million grand prize, the series includes more than 60,000 cash prizes of at least NT$1,200.
"Blossoming Riches," "Great Luck Great Winnings," and "NT$26 Million Red Envelope" will join six Taiwan Lottery games already released, to form a nine-series range available this Chinese New Year.
