Director Terrence Malick's much-anticipated film The Tree of Life has posted an interactive website called Two Ways Through Life which presents "the life journey of a young boy" from the perspective of two paths -- the mother's way and the father's way.
Each path offers ten different views -- brief clips from the film that can be enlarged to full screen, including scenes of father and son or bigger-picture imagery of molecular clouds that form galaxies. The impressionistic images include evocative quotes from the film as well as comments from viewers.
Starring Brad Pitt, Sean Penn, and Jessica Chastain in a dramatic fantasy story of a Midwestern family in the 1950s, The Tree of Life focuses on the eldest son's loss of innocence.
The Tree of Life premieres at the Cannes Film Festival and debuts in the US, Russia and European countries the week of May 26, rolling out elsewhere from June through August.
Malick is the acclaimed director of film classics Badlands with Martin Sheen and Sissy Spacek and Days of Heaven with Richard Gere and Brook Adams.
