Train service delayed twice at Pasir Ris, SMRT says ‘sorry’

Train service was delayed twice at Pasir Ris MRT station during the peak hours on Thursday morning due to a signaling fault on the track near the station, according to a statement released by SMRT.

The first delay happened at 7.06am and lasted for about 14 minutes before it was fixed at about 7.20am.

However, the fault recurred at about 8.20am before it was rectified at 8.50am.

Some trains were turned around at Tanah Merah and Tampines to maintain westbound service on the unaffected stretch between Tampines and Joo Koon stations.

SMRT’s staff were on-site to rectify the track fault immediately.

Passengers at Pasir Ris MRT station experienced delays of about five minutes in their journey due to the track fault and the volume of passengers during morning peak hours.

SMRT said that commuters were kept updated of the delay through announcements and notices at the stations and trains, radio stations and Twitter.

SMRT apologised for the inconvenience caused to commuters.
