How to turn your smartphone into a simple holographic projector

Turning your smartphone into a sort a budget holographic projector is much easier than you’d expect, and it’s a fun project if you find yourself bored enough. We rarely advise you to drop everything and do a craft (especially when sitting at your desk during business hours), but this is quite possibly the neatest DIY project to have crossed our paths in a while, and it’s definitely one to make sooner rather than later. A YouTuber tech wizard, who specializes in short instructional videos, has designed an easy-to-make plastic contraption that allows you to project 3D holographic videos that float directly above your smartphone screen. The design is constructed of little more than an old plastic CD case (no, CDs are not obsolete!) and some tape, but the results seem far more high tech than the humble materials would suggest. Once you’ve constructed the device, you’ll just need to load up a few hologram-specific videos onto the browser on your smartphone to get started. We suggest you get out your cutting mat, a knife and some tape and turn an old CD case into smartphone magic.
